Sing in Harmonie, together with KykNet, visited Ferrum High School as part of their countrywide tour where school choirs enter this singing competition and their performance is recorded. The Newcastle episode to appear on KykNet channel 164, was filmed at Ferrum High School.

Various school choirs from Newcastle took part and the audience was thrilled by performances from Ferrum High School, Bergville Primary, Drakensberg junior- and senior choirs, Arborpark Junior- and senior choirs, Monument primer and Newcastle Primary School. All the competing schools awaited the results to be tallied by the judges, Phillip Kotze, Hennie Loock and Lizl Gaffley.

Anthonie Bougas, presenter of the television show, “Sing in Harmonie”, said that it was the first time ever that so many schools from one episode made it to the final round and that it is because we really have great talent and expertise in our community. The judges and audience both agreed that our local choirs are of a high standard.

The following choirs have made it through to the final round, in various categories: Ferrum High School, Drakensberg Senior Choir, Arbor Park Junior Choir, Arbor Park Senior Choir and Monument Primêr. Congratulations to all of these choirs, their conductors and accompanists on this remarkable achievement. Thank you to Sing in Harmonie for the opportunity and to Ferrum High School for making their facilities and resources available to host the event.

Well done Ferrum Formal Choir and Mrs. R. Willemse. We are so proud of you!
