During the holidays Ferrum High School netball players travelled to Pietermaritzburg to participate in the 2019 Epworth Pre-season Netball Festival.

Ferrum was one of the 11 schools that participated in the tournament. The Ferrum 1st netball team won the entire tournament and the Ferrum 2nd netball team was placed in the 6th position. Dané Potgieter was named the player of the tournament and the following four learners were chosen as “All Star Players” and were awarded certificates: Lucia Mbatha, Dané Potgieter, Dané van der Merwe and Kholeka Nkosi.

Teams played four quarters of 6 minutes each. Full report of results of the matches played over the three days are as follows:

Won against Voortrekker 20-3 and Thomas More 16-4.

Ferrum 2nd Team
Won against St Johns DSG 18-17 and Our Lady Fathima 15-6.

Won against Our Lady Fathima 20-4
Won against Empangeni 17-9
Won against Ferrum 2nd Team 16-3

Lost against Asgton College 5-11
Won against Curro Hillcrest 17-5
Won against Voortrekker 13-0
Won against Thomas More 11-1
Lost against Ferrum 1st Team 3-15

Ferrum 1st Team
Won against Ashton College 16-12
Won against Curro Hillcrest 26-6

Ferrum 2nd Team
Lost against Felixton College 8-13


Ferrum 2nd Team played against Thomas More and won 14-9. Ferrum 2nd Team is placed 6th overall in the tournament.


Ferrum 1st Team played against Empangeni and won 18-11 and was placed 1st. Ferrum 1st Team wins the tournament overall.

What an excellent achievement! We are tremendously proud of our netball girls and their coaches.
